Lendermon leads lifters
The Colorado City Wolves made a strong showing in the powerlifting meet they hosted this last week. The boys team finished in fifth place out of 11, while the girls team finished in fourth. Darian Lendermon was up to the task again in the girls 123 pound weight class. Lendermon bench pressed 135 pounds, deadlifted 280 pounds and squatted 245 pounds on her way to taking a second place finish. The total of 660 pounds she lifted came on the heels of a first place finish in Big Spring the week before. Finishing third among the girls was Emily Franco in the 165 pound weight class. Franco got 215 pounds on the squat, 115 on the bench and 240 on the deadlift. In fifth place was Haley Maxwell in the 148 pound class, lifting a total weight of 545 pounds. Maxwell raised 190 pounds on the squat, 90 pounds on the bench and 215 on the deadlift. Lendermon is currently ranked number three in the region and number five in the state. In the boys divisions, Colorado City again boasted two number one finishers. Ramiro Reyes grabbed the honors in the 220 pound weight class, lifting a total of 1,650 pounds. His lifts included a 635 pound squat, a 465 pound bench and a 550 pound deadlift. Reyes is currently ranked number one in the region and in the state. Fabian Gutierrez claimed the top spot in the 275 pound weight class, lifting a total of 1,440 pounds. His lifts included a 600 pound squat, a 335 pound bench and a 505 pound deadlift. Gutierrez is currently ranked number one in the region for his weight class and number three in the state. Jesse Garza, ranked number eight in the region among the 220 pound weight class took third in the meet, lifting a total of 1,120 pounds. Garza had a 445 pound squat, a 255 pound bench press and a 420 pound deadlift. Tom Rivera took second place in the SHW weight class, lifting a total of 850 pounds. Rivera recorded a 325 pound squat, a 225 pound bench press and a 300 pound deadlift. Mark Gonzalez finished in fifth place in the 220 pound weight class, behind Reyes and Garza, with a total lift of 975 pounds. Gonzalez had a 410 pound squat, a 210 pound bench and a 355 pound deadlift. Jacob Ludwig finished in sixth place out of the 11 schools in the 148 pound weight class with a total lift of 775 and Tom Rivera took sixth place in the 275 pound weight class with a total lift of 850. Colorado City will compete next in Coahoma Feb. 11. The lifts will start at 9 a.m.
