Girl scout cookies return
The Girl Scouts of America are at it again! Their selling the delicious cookies everyone has come to love. This is the 100th anniversary of Girl Scout cookie sales and the Colorado City chapter of Girl Scouts is selling eight flavors of cookies, including Carmel Delites, Peanut Butter Patties, Thanks-A-Lot, Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Lemonades, Shortbread, Shout Outs and Thin Mints. According to Girl Scout troop leader Kara Wood, the local Girl Scouts had sold approximately 3600 cookies, as of last Thursday, and they want to keep going.
Proceeds raised from cookie sales are spent on troop patches, camps and charities such as the Uganda Watoto children’s choir. The local troops have also donated to the mission and fire departments, as well as other local entities.
“As needs come up, we try to help,” Wood said. The girls are setting up in yards, on parking lots and selling cookies at any location they can. They will be in Loraine and at Desert Rain in Colorado City soon, so watch for the cookie patrol.
