Deadline approaching for elections
The filing period this year for the May 12th election will run through March 5th. The actual election will be held May 12th for local and state-wide races.
Seats for Districts 3, 4 and 6 are up for election. The seats are currently held by Marcelo Alvarez Jr., Bobbie Banks and Bob Brookshear, respectively. Brookshear is the only candidate that has filed so far.
No one has filed for any of the three positions up for election on the Colorado ISD Board of Trustees.
Place 1 is a two-year seat held by Mike Alexander. Place 4 is currently vacant. Frank Martinez vacated the position after moving from the district. Place 6, like Place 4, is a four-year term. Sheila Plagens currently holds the seat in Place 6.
Two precincts and one at-large seat will be decided by election for the Lone Wolf Groundwater Conservation District Board. Those up for election this year are Precinct 2, currently held by Tommy Morris; Precinct 4, currently held by Woody Anderson; and the At-Large Seat, currently held by Bobby Lemons. No one has yet filed for any of these seats.
Amos Hale is the only citizen in Loraine that has filed for a seat on the Loraine City Council. Seats held by Susan Sanchez, Scott Edmonds and Norma Perez are up for election.
Both incumbents, David Alvarez and Ricky Bailey, have filed in the Loraine ISD school board race. The seats currently held by the two men are up for election in May.
All three positions for Westbrook City Council will be on the ballot on May 12th. The seats are currently held by Mayor Ramiro Fuentes, Councilman Sue Hawley and Councilman Elida Fuentes.
Three four-year terms are available on the Westbrook ISD Board of Trustees. The seats are currently held by Jason Morris, Donnie Hale and Thomas Connell.
