Car runs into Fuller Foods
A car made a new entrance in the front of Fuller Foods Thursday when its driver hit the accelerator instead of the brake. The minor behind the wheel was under-aged and unlicensed, but was allowed to drive the car by her mother, Synetta Shoemaker, to the store. Shoemaker was in the passenger seat of the 2011 Ford Focus when it jumped the curb and took out one of Fuller’s front windows.
According to Colorado City Police Chief Roy Owens, no citations would be issued due to the fact the incident took place on private property.
“She was attempting to pull into a parking space in front of the store and thought she had moved her foot from the gas to the brake,” Chief Owens said. “She accelerated and struck the building.”
The accident shattered glass and dislodged bricks and shopping carts, sending one cart into a shopper, according to the report by Sergeant Traven Berrie, investigating officer. The shopper was treated by EMS personnel on site for bruising and released.
