Catch the spirit of Christmas

Mark your calendars for Friday, December 4, and make plans with your family and friends to attend the Main Street Light Before Christmas event.

Many stores will be open from 5 to 9 p.m., with the lighting of the tree at Friendly Park at 6 p.m. After the lighting, Santa will make his appearance at 6 p.m. at the Main Event with pictures available if you wish. Carolers on a special stage will fill the air with magical music during the evening.

Last year was our first Light Before Christmas and the attendance and comments were very positive. Many people commented that they felt they were in the Colorado City of years ago. People loved the opportunity to visit with friends and neighbors surrounded by a Christmas atmosphere.

Children of all ages, young and old, can roast marshmallows and listen to Christmas stories told in an enchanting manner.

A unique Lubbock artist who etches stone and glass will bring his trailer to park on Walnut Street. He will have gifts for purchase and special orders as well. He may have just the thing for that very-hard-to-shop-for person on your list.

Our downtown merchants have amazing selections for your shopping pleasure, and you will have plenty of time to shop before catching a movie at 3M Palace. Food will be available at our downtown establishments and popcorn at Stacie’s Creations.

Put on you snuggly coat and your favorite muffler and bring your family and friends for a delightful evening of Christmas cheer. Don’t miss it! See you there.
